Birnur Temel Birtane

Birnur Temel Birtane, who studied art history and sculpture, previously worked as a curator. She currently continues her practice as a social designer through MILKist, the platform she founded, while also producing independent illustrations for books.
One of the key projects developed under MILKist focuses on creating pigments from agricultural waste. The stained paper strips used during color testing often evolve into unique patterns, becoming part of the creative process. For the “Earth Colors” exhibition, large interactive surfaces were designed, allowing viewers to engage with and explore the origins of color.
Their first collaboration began with a request from a social media follower, who wanted a mural for her daughter’s room in Antalya. Since it was not possible to be there in person, the design was produced as wallpaper. Floral motifs, scattered seeds, balanced abstract forms, and loosely drawn rainbow elements were among the key features.
In a later project in Hatay, Serinyol, a wallpaper installation was placed inside a climate literacy container space. This visual tool was used during workshops with children to help explain colors and their natural sources in an engaging and accessible way.
